Photo Monday
These are also oldies but goodies. These are from a round of urban exploration that I did a few years ago through Gary, IN. Gary was once a bustling and booming mill town. Mills close or production slows down, residents move on, crime and poverty take over. It is now a city of ruin, so much beauty and potential left to just rot and crumble away.
This is actually, believe it or not, an old Frank Lloyd Wright house. There were a few in the city. The majority have actually been kept up decently well. Many are still owned by the original owners. This one clearly has not been cared for. Like so many homes and buildings in the city, it has long since been abandoned.
These next two are an apartment building, built sometime in the 50's. It too has long since been left to crumble away. It is actually due to be torn down soon.
I very clearly remember this day. Seeing and exploring all of the old buildings. It is something I definitely need to do again soon. It is sad and mesmerizing all at the same time.
